Jesse Cook San Jose Concert reviews
AMAZING STAR WARS CONCERT (except for one thing)
I was lucky to attend 4 of the Southern California shows. You will truly have an amazing experience. If you are a fan of Jesse Cook, especially the music, you MUST attend this show! Even if you have to drive or fly to the next town to see it...Do it! You won't regret it! The 86 piece orchestra amazed me with the largest sound I have ever personally heard from an orchestra. Stunning high definition images from the Star Wars movies were played in sync to the music behind the orchestra on a 100 foot 4 million dollar LED screen. Anthony Daniels, the actor who plays C3PO, is an excellent host and provides a thoroughly entertaining narrative as he introduces each musical segment. He even reprises his role as C3PO in one narration where he acts out one of his funny lines from The Empire Strikes Back, eliciting laughter from the audience. The Star Wars exhibits were also impressive. Many original props and costumes were showcased. However, this is where I have one issue. In the Anaheim concert, the exhibit included the Han Solo Frozen in Carbonite display for ALL attendees to see. In the Los Angeles concert, this display was "hidden" in the back of the theater in the Wachovia VIP Lounge, where I suspect only about 5% of the attendees got to see this incredible exhibit. Even during the viewing hours between 7pm and 8pm, there were only a few people in the VIP Lounge looking at the Han Solo Carbonite display. The Anaheim exhibit also featured a costume exhibit of the Senate Guard and Emperor's Royal Guard, as well as production artwork displays. These were both absent from the Los Angeles Star Wars exhibit. Maybe space was limited in the Nokia Theater lobbies, but the top floor lobby had ample room for the Han Solo Carbonite and Star Wars Guards displays. That's my sole complaint....maybe there were valid reasons for the limited exhibit arrangements. By the way, I suggest purchasing the "Hot Seat Package." This allows you early access to view the exhibits at 5:30pm. Everyone else enters at 7pm, leading to a crowded experience viewing all the exhibits until the concert begins at 8pm. The concert itself lasts around 2 hours with a 20 minute intermission midway. The orchestra may perform an encore, but this only occurred once in the 4 shows I attended. After the concert, you can once again view the exhibits for about an hour, but it remains somewhat crowded. With the "Hot Seat Package," you also get a fantastic seat as the name suggests. I had the opportunity to sit in the second row....AMAZING! If you opt for regular seats or floor seats, there's a risk of having your view blocked by someone taller. It's also more challenging to see the brass section of the orchestra from floor seats, particularly during "The Imperial March." There are other ticket packages available where you can meet Anthony Daniels in person and gain VIP Lounge access.
